Save the Kids and Trees of Hilliard, Ohio

LETTER TO ELECTED OFFICIALS

ELECTIONS ARE AROUND THE CORNER

DO NOT TRIP ON THE SIDEWALK

As you witnessed today, the sidewalks of Hayden

Run Village are hazardous to walk, run, and ride.

Under the present policy of destruction, rip, and ruin,

the community funds will evaporate quickly.

According to The Ohio State University study the value

of a mature tree is over $5,000.

Why Trees Matter

ABOUT WHY TREES MATTER

The Ohio State University Extension

Why Trees Matter Signature program

focuses on the ecological, economic,

and social benefits.

My plan to reduce personal injuries and save the trees

and save the city money is to offer the residents an

incentive to raise concrete joints to current ADA

standards.

The proposal will save on accidents and improve the

resale value of homes. In short, consider offering

residents a “Community Saving and Sharing Plan”.

The city will offer residents an optional solution which

would charge home owners and real estate holders a

special rate of $25 per lifted slab of concrete.

This will save the cost of removing the tree, grinding

the stump, landscaping, concrete removal and

replacement and planting a new tree. It doesn’t require

a math major to understand the actual and aesthetic

savings to the community called ‘Tree City”.

Other forward thinking communities are offering similar

alternatives. So let’s put a moratorium on costly tree

removal and seriously consider the quality of life in

Hilliard.  *** Watch Below
